The Vessel

"The Vessel"
One of Susan Sontag's quotes that resonated with me the most was "to collect photographs is to collect the world." I chose this quote because anywhere I go that I find interesting, I have to take a photo of the wherever the location may be with me in it. Before you know it you will have a whole collection of the world with you in it. This idea also ties into another quote of hers which says "photographs furnish evidence." Me in the picture will show the evidence. With this being said I decided to visit "the vessel" in NYC which is a 150-foot-tall climbable public art piece. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, the impressive bronzed steel-and-concrete structure offers visitors a one-mile vertical climbing experience through 154 interconnected flights of stairs and 2,500 individual steps.
