Collecting Memories

For my weekly selfie, I got inspired by Sontag’s line in her article which was “Photographed images do not seem to be statements about the world so much as pieces of it, miniatures of reality that anyone can make or acquire.” I interpreted this quote as saying how photographs capture memories that we hold dear to us. Sontag also mentioned in her article that collecting photographs is collecting the world. I wanted to incorporate these two ideas by taking a photo of the photos of my family and friends that I keep on my corkboard. I wanted to show the two sides of my family which I put my mom's side on one hand and my dad’s on the other then I put my friends in the middle. These photos of my friends and family are important to me because they are precious memories that I look back to and hold dear to me.
