For this week's self-portrait, I was inspired by Susan Sontag excerpt entitled, "On Photography." In the excerpt, she goes into depth of her notions behind art and photography. Sontag describes the many aspects of a photograph, its perceptions, and what a photograph or photographer can choose to reveal or not to reveal. The specific quote I resonated with from the text was, "Photographs really are experience captured, and the camera is the ideal arm of consciousness in its acquisitive mood." In my "selfie" I decided to do just that. I captured a mood and or an experience that I identified with. Sontag also related photographs to being "souvenirs of daily life." And my daily life often consists of academic studies which I attempted to portray in my photo.
