Susan Sontag wrote, “Photographed
images do not seem to be statements about the world so much as pieces of it,
miniatures of reality that anyone can make or acquire.” This quote stood out to
me because the reality is that photographs make up the world by displaying
everything that is going on and building a story. Life doesn’t move without
pictures because now everything is put on social media and shown to the world.
Anyone can make pictures or fabricate a scene that shows something that isn’t
reality. People are able to acquire any photograph they want not only by
looking things up online but also going to the destination. We tend to live
vicariously through photographs when we are unable to be there. In this
photograph I wanted to capture something that is reality but also something
that is a miniature of reality. This was taken in Jersey City after I had finished breaking down a wedding for a floral company. I stopped for a second and took this photograph in order to create my own small piece of reality for the world.
