"Photographs are perhaps the most mysterious of all objects that make up, and thicken, the environment we recognize as modern. Photographs really are experience captured, and the camera is the ideal arm of consciousness in its acquisitive mood."
This quote stuck out to me most in the reading On Photography by Susan Sontag. My interpretation of this quote is that a photo is something special and most perplexing. Photographs make up our reality and hold a lot of memories dearest to us. It does indeed thicken our modern environment reminding us of what was, is and what has evolved. She says, "Photographs really are experience captured" and I strongly agree. This was an amazing experience I had with my family one afternoon in the kitchen. My cat so randomly and normal as if he was a little baby sat inside my baby sister's chair. It was the cutest thing and this photograph although you don't see my family, you get a sense of what the environment could've been around it and the experience in capturing this photo was the best.
